What is a symptom event recorder?
A symptom event recorder is a longterm (usually 30 days) heart rhythm recorder that you wear continuously during the time of day when your symptoms usually take place. It is an “on demand” recorder that you activate when you are having symptoms. The recorder stores your heart rhythm information until you transmit the data via telephone to our monitoring service.
Where can I schedule this test?
You can have a symptom event recorder placed at our main office on East Stop 11 Road or at our Mooresville location.
Are there any restrictions or special instructions while I am wearing the monitor?
You will be instructed to perform your normal daily activities during the 30 days while you have the monitor.
When will I receive my results from the monitor?
A report will be generated and given to one of our electrophysiologists for interpretation after you have returned the recorder to our office. Once signed, the report will go to the ordering physician, and you will be contacted with your results.
If a dangerous or life-threatening heart rhythm abnormality is detected, an IHP physician will be alerted immediately after you transmit your recording to our monitoring service. You will then be called with instructions.
How do I contact you for questions?
You may contact us by phone Monday through Friday at 317.893.1900.
