What is a treadmill test?
A treadmill test is a study where you are asked to walk on a treadmill while your EKG and blood pressure are monitored throughout the test and symptoms are evaluated. This test helps your physician evaluate the performance of your heart and cardiovascular system.
How long does the test take?
You will be walking on the treadmill for approximately 3 to 12 minutes. Your total appointment time for a treadmill test will be approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Where can the test be performed?
Treadmill tests may be scheduled at the Indiana Heart Physicians Medical Office Building, located at 5330 E. Stop 11 Road, or at our St. Francis Hospital—Mooresville location.
What are my instructions for the test?
You should take your medications as usual unless instructed otherwise by your physician. Bring a list of all medications that you are currently taking, both prescription and over-the-counter, to your appointment. You should avoid eating a large meal within one hour of your test time. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are comfortable to walk in.
When will I receive my results?
You will get the results of the test while you are in the office after one of our cardiologists has interpreted your results. Copies of the test results will be shared with the ordering physician.
